You are unique by being you — a new definition of uniqueness.

In a world of constant rush with many people around: eating the same thing, watching/reading the same thing, dressing the same way and trying to look the same, we admit — sometimes it is hard to find ourselves. But the most important thing is to remember to listen to ourselves and be true to our true self. What does that mean?

A new definition of exceptionalism? There are many!

There are probably as many people as there are definitions of uniqueness. It consists of many factors, including knowing our own needs, desires, strengths and weaknesses. All these elements are also connected with our maturity. It is only when we allow ourselves to be who we want to be that we become free and “whole.” And while some may say it’s a cliché, there’s no denying that many women still carry a huge blockage within them. It prevents them from finding inner peace and developing a sense of being special and unique.

Why do we have these kinds of problems? Social expectations, shame and fear of not being accepted by others, pressure, lack of time or space to look deep inside ourselves and ask existential questions. Who am I? What do I want? Where do I want to be? Who do I want to be and who inspires me? Admit it yourself — when was the last time you found a moment for similar self-reflection? Here are some tips to help you nurture (and maybe even find) your uniqueness.

You are unique when you are you: how do you nurture your uniqueness?

How do we find ourselves and how can we nurture this uniqueness that lies dormant within us? Here are some of the most important elements to consider on this beautiful, never-ending journey.

Find time just for yourself every day

Even if you are the most social and people-loving person, allow yourself some time just for yourself. This is because in solitude, we perceive things completely differently. All it takes is a few minutes a day during which you focus on how you feel and what makes you feel the way you do, and what you can do to make it better. Remember — no one else will take care of you as well as you take care of yourself.

Don’t be afraid of boredom

It is when we are bored that the best ideas often come to our minds! So this seemingly unproductive time can turn into something very productive. Look at the ceiling, lie down for a moment, watch the leaves swaying in the wind or the sky — do it all without remorse.

Practice gratitude

At the end of each day, write down a few things you are grateful for. It could be having your favorite cup of tea, a minor or major success, or seeing a friend. This game is really great for how we perceive our own lives — chances are, after just a few weeks, you’ll learn to appreciate many things, making you feel happier.

Be good to yourself and others

Are you in a place you don’t want to be? Clearly you shouldn’t be there. Of course, we advise against quitting your hated job overnight. First, make sure you have independence and a sense of security. Then you’ll have the courage to stop complaining and start acting and living your life beautifully.

Look at the people next to you

Who do you see? Are they the kind of people who put a smile on your face and always support you? Remember that our surroundings have a huge impact on us, so it’s extremely important that you surround yourself with positive people who wish you well.

Don’t neglect your passions

If there is something that you can devote yourself to for hours — time stands still and you feel truly happy — make time for it. You are most likely one of the lucky ones who have already discovered your passion. Nothing builds confidence and a sense of uniqueness and self-worth more than knowing that you are good at something. If you haven’t discovered anything that “wings” you, keep searching — with an open mind and curiosity, no matter what your age.

Turn flaws into advantages

Let’s move on to the visual — do you think that protruding ears, small breasts or a too big nose have a negative impact on your life? Really? Take a look at many top models — they are often girls who were fingered as children because their beauty did not conform to the beauty standards of the time. Today, the elements that make you different from others make you special, distinctive, unique. However, much depends on whether you try to hide them at all costs, or — aware of your value — proudly present them to the world.

Work on yourself

This is a full-time job. We admit it — it can be hard. But every time we (whether on our own, with the help of loved ones or therapy) overcome the demons of the past or fight our own limitations, there is incredible satisfaction. It usually gives us the strength to continue and shows that working on character and weaknesses simply pays off.

Stop waiting forever for something

Yes, patience is a virtue. But be careful that, while waiting for something special, you don’t fall into a slump and forget about living your life in a qualitative way. A fixed pattern: work, Netflix, eating, sleeping — is a vicious circle that so many of us fall into. Until you change it, you probably won’t discover yourself as much as you’d like.

If no one has told you that today, we are happy to do so. You are special, sufficient and unique! Be patient with yourself, understanding and accepting of any stumbles — you are in for a fantastic adventure. We wish you good luck and courage in learning to care for and fight for yourself and your uniqueness!
