It’s been a long time since there was such a scandal at an Oscar gala. After the indiscriminate and, no doubt, absolutely unnecessary joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness, outraged by the words of the gala’s host, Chris Rock, Will Smith not only said what he thought about all this, but also decided to convey it a bit more emphatically. Will Smith has been severely punished for his behavior. After a laconic apology addressed to Chris Rock on Instagram, he decided to do it decently. As a result, an emotional video featuring the actor has hit the web, in which Will Smith answers the most frequently asked questions about the whole situation.
Returning the honor to Chris
Will Smith explains that he would very much like to apologize to Chris Rock in person as well.
“I would tell you, Chris, that I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable,” he declares.
But this one is not yet ready to meet the actor. And all in all, we don’t surprise him at all. Perhaps, however, he will change his mind after watching the video that Smith posted on his You Tube channel. Especially since in it the star also apologizes to his colleague’s loved ones.
“I would like to apologize to Chris’ mother (…), his entire family, especially his brother Tony Rock,” he says.
In the five-minute video, Will Smith also shows remorse towards his fans, whom he admits he rightly disappointed. Thus, he allowed himself words of self-criticism.
“I am most afraid of disappointing others. I hate it when I don’t rise to the occasion. It hurts me psychologically and emotionally, because I know that I have failed to match the high opinion of me that my fans have of me. The work I’m doing on myself is trying not to be ashamed of who I am, while being contrite after what I’ve done,” he said. And he concluded: “I know it was shocking, but I promise you, I am 100 percent dedicated to transmitting light, love and joy into the world”.
He also stressed that there was nothing left of this man, who thought in that situation that violence was the best solution.
