Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding turned out to be quite a surprise. For although planned, it took place unexpectedly — in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas. Only after it was over did the details of the event begin to come to light. Among other things, thanks to J.Lo herself, who shared with fans her impressions of the big day.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding should come as no surprise to anyone. The couple got engaged in April 2022, and J.Lo talked about it in minute detail. Among other things, she revealed that when Ben Affleck asked if she would become his wife she was completely naked, as she had just taken a bath. She talked about the symbolism associated with her engagement ring with a green emerald, and also mentioned that she felt like she was having déjà vu, because, after all, Ben Affleck had already proposed to her once. And that was equal to 20 years earlier — in 2002 shortly after they met on the set of the film “Gigli”! As we know, however, the wedding did not take place then. Two years later, the couple broke off their engagement and announced their separation. The greater was the euphoria of Bennifer’s fans when in July 2021 it was revealed that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were back together. Jennifer Lopez couldn’t have announced it in a hotter way, by the way — on her Instagram profile in a photo gallery she shared one in which, dressed in a bikini, she passionately kisses her new-old partner. Not surprisingly, Internet users then went crazy. And gradually they began to speculate about the wedding.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s first wedding canceled just before the ceremony

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s engagement was confirmed to be just a matter of time, although the certainty that this time the wedding would take place could not be had until the very end. After all, the first wedding ceremony was canceled just before it began. Although more than 400 guests were invited in time, including some of the biggest names in American show business — Matt Damon, Bruce Willis, Alec Baldwin, Colin Farrell and Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler in the TV series Friends. It is said that it was the scale of the event that frightened Ben Affleck, who was frightened that by marrying J.Lo for the rest of his life he would be surrounded by a whole lot of people, including, among others, her entourage. He feared that this would prevent them from forming a real relationship and at some point lead to its breakup. He wanted to be alone with Jen.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Las Vegas wedding: ceremony details

Perhaps that’s why the couple opted for a much more intimate ceremony this time. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding was held in secret, at an atmospheric white chapel in Las Vegas (Little White Wedding Chapel). And we learned the details of the event after the whole ceremony. In fact, they were revealed by Jennifer Lopez herself, who shared her impressions of the wedding with her fans and followers via a newsletter sent from her website OnTheJLo.com. Bennifer said the sacramental “I do” to each other on July 16, 2022, and just a day later the newsletter hit fans’ inboxes.

“We did it. Love is beautiful. Good. And apparently it is also patient. It can be patient for up to 20 years,” it was more or less with these words that Jennifer Lopez began her message to her supporters.

The star also added that the Las Vegas wedding was exactly what both she and Ben wanted, and revealed some details from the event.

“We flew to Vegas last night and stood in line for the nuptial certificate along with four other couples who had made the same trip to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us, two men were holding hands. Ahead of us waited a young couple who had traveled here three hours by car from Victorville, on their daughter’s second birthday. We all wanted the same thing — for the world to recognize us officially as partners, to be confirmed by a marriage certificate,” she wrote.

Jennifer Lopez also revealed that they arrived at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas just before midnight — they only made it in time because it had been open longer than it should have been. When it was all over, Jen and Ben took photos of themselves in a pink Cadillac-cabriolet (but without Elvis, because you’d have to pay extra for him).

The singer also confessed that when she and Ben Affleck exchanged rings, which she stressed “they will wear for the rest of their lives,” she was wearing a dress “from an old movie.” What she meant, however, was rather that the dress was HOW from an old movie, as J.Lo opted for a lacy, semi-transparent wedding dress from the collection of Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad. To then change into a much simpler model — most likely vintage (so she could have been an old dress from the movie set, but we haven’t solved that mystery yet). Ben Affleck, on the other hand, was dressed in a white tuxedo, which he already had in his closet, a white shirt with pleats and a black bow tie. So they both looked great.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding: J.Lo has changed her name!

The words of the song “All You Need Is Love” are true, J.Lo wrote on her newsletter. And she added:

“We are extremely grateful that we have it in abundance, a new family with five children, and a life ahead of us that we couldn’t have waited for more (…). Love is a wonderful thing, who knows if not the best thing in the world, so it’s worth waiting for.”

The letter signed: Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck, and this means that she decided to change her name after marriage. So you know — Jennifer Lopez is no longer called that!
