How to prevent cosmetics from flaking? There are 5 ways that will make the cosmetics written off still have a chance to become favorites.

You know that feeling when, encouraged by great reviews, you buy a cosmetic bestseller, put it on your face, putting great hopes in it, and these are immediately buried, because the product peels? Unfortunately, such situations are not rare. Instead of waiting for the sensational effect of the cosmetic, you do not want to have anything to do with it at the start. But why does this happen when the product has previously collected hundreds or even thousands of positive reviews? It turns out that the problem does not lie in the cosmetic itself. The lumps or “peels” can be formed for many reasons, which can be dealt with. Therefore, it is not worth getting discouraged at the very beginning. A cosmetic, which at first gave a disappointing result, still has a chance to become your favorite. This applies to both skincare and makeup products.

Select lightweight formulas

The problem that causes a product to start flaking on the skin has to do with its absorption. If the skin does not absorb the cosmetic that we have applied on it and it stays on the surface, then as a result, we are faced with the very rolling of the product or the formation of lumps. This problem is quite common when we choose thick and heavy formulas. Replacing them with lighter ones is the easiest way to regain a smooth complexion without flaky cosmetics. Remember, there’s always a way to choose just lightweight formulas. Even if your skin needs strong hydration, you can reach for a more concentrated serum instead of a cream or bet on the best ingredients. Hyaluronic acid, squalane or ceramides will take care of it as it should. However, avoid silicone, which is not absorbed. This will give your next layers of cosmetics, and perhaps the one that disappointed you last time, a chance to look completely different.

Don’t overdo it with the amount

The saying that what’s too much is not enough is perfectly true in the case of the amount of cosmetics applied. Even such a simple task as applying cream or foundation can be seen with the naked eye. Too much is smeared on the skin and does not want to be absorbed. As a result, lumps and loose skin can also form. In this case, less is more. Even if you are not a minimalist it is worth taking this to heart. The results will make you not regret this decision at all.

Let the cosmetic be absorbed

Beauty treatments and makeup are activities that we often do in a hurry, and this is a huge enemy of the final result. Each cosmetic used should have a moment to itself to be absorbed. Products applied one after another mix together and stay on the skin creating a rather unpleasant effect. So it is not a simple advice, but it is worth in your busy schedule a little more time for both skin care and makeup. This way, cosmetics that you were not even satisfied with will have a chance to show their different face, which will certainly be more to your liking.

Apply your make-up in a specific order

Different cosmetics have completely different functions that are worth knowing. This way, you may find that the order in which you applied the products had no way of working. It just couldn’t work when oil-based products were applied to the face first, followed by water-based ones. To simplify it, serums should always come first and thick cream or facial oil at the end of your skincare routine. In this case, it is worth remembering what occlusive cosmetics are and how they work. Their task is to retain moisture, and not to provide it to the skin. They are not absorbed, they create a film, which is a barrier. Therefore, applying cosmetics to them for absorption misses the point. They simply will not be able to penetrate such a layer and get into the skin.

Exfoliate your skin

It is always worth remembering that the effect that the cosmetics we use can give depends largely on the proper preparation of the skin. Cleansing is the absolute basis, which makes it possible for the products to be properly absorbed and not clog pores or flake on the skin. The effect can also be intensified by exfoliating dead skin. Here, however, you can not overdo it. It is enough to perform the procedure once a week with a gentle exfoliating cosmetic. This will stimulate regular cell renewal and make the skin better prepared to absorb skin care products and makeup.
